HealthStar Home Health has some pretty impressive employees with an extraordinary range of skills and backgrounds. From our Nurses and Caregivers in client homes providing one-on-one care, to our team of administrative professionals working “behind the scenes” to make sure operations are running smoothly, HealthStar has quite the team focused on providing the best care possible to our clients.

Meet Rosemarie! As the Assistant Director of Nursing, Rosemarie oversees all the skilled clinicians and patient care provided. From checking clinician notes, fielding calls from clinicians, and traveling across the state of Minnesota to train new nurses, Rosemarie’s schedule is never empty. Her many years of nursing experience make her an exceptional resource to our team of nurses, and her compassion and sense of humor make her an exceptional member of the HealthStar team!

Q: What do you do at HealthStar? What does a typical day look like for you?
A: I am the Assistant Director of Nursing. A typical day for me is doing QA, running weekly care coordination meetings with each office, UR calls, keeping track of PDGM worksheet for all intakes, COVID tracking spreadsheet for clients/employees, and fielding phone calls/emails.

Q: Before working at HealthStar, what was the most interesting or unusual job you’ve ever had?
A: I used to work at the Brown and Bigelow building in St. Paul, working for Hoyle Playing Cards. I worked for customer service and eventually was put in charge of our Casino accounts managing orders and card designs.

Q: How has HealthStar helped in your career development?
A: I feel my position is a natural progression of my nursing career. I started working in United Hospital as a PCA while attending nursing school, then worked at United as an RN. I did work from home doing Long Term Care Insurance interviews for many years, then moved into Home Care after my kids were all in school. I have been working in home care for about 10.5 years. I love the relationship a home care nurse can develop with their clients. I enjoy working with our staff and seeing growth in their careers.

Q: What advice do you have for candidates looking to start a career at HealthStar?
A: I would definitely recommend a career with HealthStar. Management cares a great deal about seeing everyone grow, expand our knowledge and getting to know everyone individually.

Q: If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing (except money), what would it be and why?
A: Frequent flier miles

Q: What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
A: I have won ribbons at the Minnesota State Fair for blueberry jam and apple butter.

Q: What do you like to do when you’re not working?
A: Family is very important to me. My daughter Amelia and granddaughter Emma recently moved in with me and my husband, big changes! My son Ben and his girlfriend Samantha just bought a house in Duluth. My son Noah and his girlfriend Alicia live in Bemidji. I have all of the offices covered lol.
I enjoy jigsaw puzzles, photography, cooking/baking, and gardening.

Q: If somebody opened up your Spotify/Apple Music/Pandora/etc, what would they be surprised to see?
A: Lady Gaga, Pink, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Florence and the Machine

Q: If you were to skydive from an airplane, what would you think about on the way down?
A: First of all NO! I would think what stupid way to die.

Q: How do you define success?
A: Being respected
