From our Nurses and Caregivers in client homes providing one-on-one care, to our team of administrative professionals working “behind the scenes” to make sure operations are running smoothly, HealthStar has quite the team focused on providing the best care possible to our clients.
Today we recognize Katie Swenson, our Medical Billing Specialist out of our Corporate office! Katie has been with us for 2 years and makes up one-half of our extraordinary billing team. (Special shoutout to Kim for being the second-half and who will never let us spotlight her. Hi Kim! ) Katie is loved across the entire company due to her extensive knowledge in billing and always being available and willing to help. Q: What do you do at HealthStar? What does a typical day look like for you?
A: I am a billing specialist, I spend my day following up on claims, getting services ready to bill out, entering authorizations, posting payments, communication with branches and departments regarding billing.
Q: Before working at HealthStar, what was the most interesting or unusual job you’ve ever had?
A: Before working at HealthStar, I managed a few group homes that cared for individuals with mental illness and veterans with traumatic brain injuries.
Q: What has been your favorite project you’ve worked on at HealthStar?
A: I worked on getting the Integrated Primary Care rolling for TRU Health and Wellness, which was challenging but I also learned a lot.
Q: What is your motto or personal mantra?
A: It’ll be mostly fine
Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?
A: Pediatrician
Q: What do you like most about your job at HealthStar?
A: I feel accomplished each day, I feel like my coworkers are phenomenal people, who are always working together to figure out the best way to accomplish a goal.
Q: If somebody opened up your Spotify/Apple Music/Pandora/etc, what would they be surprised to see?
A: Cardi B as one of my most played artists, mixed in with mostly country western music. LOL
Q: If you could change careers right now, what would you choose?
A: In-home daycare provider.
Q: What was the last book you read?
A: Cilka’s Journey, The Tattooist of Auschwitz.
Q: What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
A: Hobbies I enjoy are camping, hunting, riding ATV’s, archery, going to the gun range. I love to do those hobbies with mine and my boyfriends fiancé’s families and our friends.
