Employee Spotlight: Jodi Jahnke

banner with "Employee Spotlight" repeating

HealthStar Home Health has some pretty impressive employees with an extraordinary range of skills and backgrounds. From our Nurses and Caregivers in client homes providing one-on-one care, to our team of administrative professionals working “behind the scenes” to make sure operations are running smoothly, HealthStar has quite the team focused on providing the best care possible to our clients.

Just like our February spotlight, Lillian, Jodi Jahnke is another new face to the Corporate Office! Having joined our team in October 2022 as our Director of Rehab, Jodi has jumped into her role providing outstanding leadership to the therapy team. She’s the driver behind initiating HealthStar’s Lymphedema training. Jodi never shies away from the opportunity to teach new clinicians her tricks of the trade, and never misses an opportunity to participate in the Corporate Office’s weekly teambuilding “Friday Fun”. Jodi has been an outstanding addition to the Corporate team, and we are excited to see where the next year takes her. Welcome to the team, Jodi!

Q: What do you do at HealthStar? What does a typical day look like for you?
A: I am the Director of Rehab. My typical day has been a little bit of everything so far while I learn my new role. I have been completing patient care, participate in interviews for the therapy team, provide training to new staff, attend meetings/trainings, answer emails, etc.

Q: Before working at HealthStar, what was the most interesting or unusual job you’ve ever had?
A: I was a HHA for more than 10 years for my neighbor who lives across the street. I was able to work for him in early mornings and evenings so I could stay at home when my kids were young. My client is like family to us, and he is my youngest son’s godfather.

Q: How has HealthStar helped in your career development?
A: HealthStar is giving me the opportunity to learn and grow in leadership. I am very thankful for this opportunity and know I have so much more learning to do.

Jodi Jahnke, OT
Director of Rehab

Q: What advice would you have for candidates looking to work at HealthStar?
A: I would say this: if you want to work for kind, compassionate, and passionate people, then HealthStar is for you. The leadership here allows for growth opportunities and they are willing to hear about new ideas/opportunities. Our therapy team is top notch with always putting our clients first, and we are going to keep growing! I went from working 32 hours per week to now working 40 plus hours, and I would not change anything to get that day off again. I now prefer coming into the office rather than staying home. This is a great place to be.

Q: What has been your favorite project you’ve worked on at HealthStar?
A: In the short amount of time I have been here; I would say my favorite thing so far has been training in new staff and teaching them what I know. I love forming lasting relationships with our team members. I really love when new employees are stuck with me driving to/from patient’s homes.

Q: If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing (except money), what would it be and why?
A: Diamonds. Just kidding. Sun and palm trees anytime I want. I would love to have a second home in Maui that we could visit anytime. However, I love Minnesota about 8 months out of the year.

Q: What do you like to do when you’re not working?
A: I love hanging out with my family and my dog. I have 3 awesome boys and a spouse. My boys are growing fast and are young men now.

Q: If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?
A: I have said this before at HealthStar: A magic wand. It would be so great to see a patient and take their pain away or make them well with one swoop of the wand.

Q: What are 3 things on your bucket list?
A: Go to Hawaii with the fam.
Travel to Ireland, Scotland, Germany, etc.
Sing in a choir/musical

Q: What’s something invaluable that you’ve learned working at HealthStar?
A: 24 ECCs. This is so unique and great that our leaders take the time to implement what HealthStar values most.
